TRANE Launches Revolutionary Air Filtration System

NEW YORK (Feb. 7, 2006) - A newly converted 7,500-square-foot, airy loft in a former YMCA off busy 23rd Street in New York became the backdrop for a "hands-on," discovery-type exhibition designed to educate media attendees about indoor air quality and help them visualize how TRANE CleanEffects™ works. Each area of the house was designed as an "education station" where indoor air quality experts addressed a variety of indoor air quality issues around the home.

TRANE Theater: Editors stopped in at the local TRANE cineplex in the home's media room to view a short video featuring the positive experiences of some of the first families in the United States to live with TRANE CleanEffects in their homes.

Computer Lab: Editors took the Clean Air Quiz to test their knowledge of indoor air quality issues.

Play Space: Puppies and children. What could be cuter? Editors visited the play space to learn how TRANE CleanEffects can protect you and your family from pet dander, bacteria and other allergens that our precious pets can track indoors.

Health Class: What lurks in the air you breathe every day—and what can those particles and contaminants do to your health? Harvard professor Dr. John D. Spengler discussed facts about indoor air quality, his studies around the subject and why an effective whole-house air cleaner is needed.

Science Room: In this room, editors learned what exactly makes TRANE CleanEffects so different from any other air cleaner. They experienced its innovative technology, learned how it works, and got a chance to compare its results to those of other indoor air cleaners on the market.

Representatives from top publications such as Home, Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, This Old House and Fit attended the event.

In the days following the media event another expert, Dr. Philip Tierno, director of clinical microbiology at New York University Medical Center, conducted television and radio interviews with local market news stations around the country, reaching 8.2 million people with TRANE CleanEffects information.

In addition, Fred Poses, chairman and CEO, of American Standard Companies, the parent company of TRANE, appeared on Bloomberg television and radio, providing more information about TRANE CleanEffects to more viewers and listeners.

Our Clear the Air event and broadcast interviews helped millions of people across the country learn that the quality of our lives is directly related to the quality of the air we breathe at home, and that TRANE CleanEffects can make homes a better place for living.
